Using the Network Connection Wizard - Login and Naming
After configuring the dial-up phone number, click Next to reach the logon information step shown below:

Fill in these boxes with the username and password provided by an ISP. Note that for some ISPs, like Earthlink, it may be necessary to enter a domain name in addition to a username. For example, a person with username abcdef may need to enter ELN/abcdef in the username box (where ELN is the ISPs domain name) for the connection to authenticate properly.

Supplying the correct login credentials and clicking Next leads to the connection name step shown below. By default, the name field is filled in with the local phone number selected earlier.

While changing the connection name is not strictly necessary, one might prefer to replace the default text with text that contains the name of the ISP and the locale being called, such as Earthlink - Athens, GA.

Clicking Next here leads to the mail account option shown below.

Choosing the default option of 'Yes' leads to additional steps dealing with the Microsoft Outlook Express email client. Those who do not use Outlook Express for email should choose 'No' as shown above to skip this option. One can also configure Outlook Express outside of this wizard. Choosing 'No' here does not affect the ability of the modem to connect to the Internet.
