The thought of seeing a Windows 7 desktop on my Apple iPad is decidedly not cool, but it can be done thanks to the VNC Viewer for iPad. VNC (Virtual Networking Computing) is a comparatively old network technology that has been brought to the new device courtesy of RealVNC, a company started by the original creators of VNC. The VNC Viewer software (that also runs on many other clients besides iPad) connects to a target computer and allows remote control of the host's graphical desktop.
Unlike the Remote Desktop Connection software built into Win7, RealVNC works with non-Windows operating systems. But plenty of other remote control software clients exist for iPad too, including LogMeIn Ignition.
