| FAQ | People occasionally ask me about removing the Wi-Fi network adapter from their Xbox 360 to use it in an ordinary computer. If you are using the official Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter, this simply won't work. You cannot use Microsoft's 360 adapter on your computer for the same reason that ordinary USB adapters don't work on the Xbox - the needed device driver support is lacking.
If you are using a generic USB wireless game adapter or Ethernet-to-wireless bridge (like I do), then of course you can swap the adapter between your Xbox and computer with no problem.

Thanks very much for that information
thanks u saved me a few hours of tryin to figure it out
When it comes to NT (Windows) drivers, you may not be able to find a specific driver for the adapter but that does not mean that one does not exist that will work!!!!
Find out first what chipset the adapter uses and get the latest Linux source code for that chipset
compile + install = MAGIC!
If you are running Linux you are in luck
hey well hey i put the xbox on my usb how do i install the driver or whatever ; ) help plzz
Good thing I run Linux!
Hey what driver do i install that would help me a bunch
thanks man
jejeje I brougth it, I plug it to a pc, and it not work.
the pc not find the drivers.
thats kind of odd.. i use a regular xbox wirless adaptor on my pc, and on my 360.. thats kind of weird that the 360 1 wouldnt work…
has anyone tried putting the disc in that came with it? maybe that has the needed drivers-it does for the 360.
i tried. windows didnt recognize any of the files in it.
i personally think that is just stupid i don’t see why windows wont recognize it unless Microsoft wants you to blow your money on more of their price junk.( like its a evil plan to seal all our money like every other company in this world only looking at the $$. lol)
Well thats all it ever is is just money to them, and im sure there will be a driver out there some where that you could use its Microsoft and so is windows, even if there is drivers that you could find why would you care u have just spent like 30-40 pound on the 360 wireless device why not like another 7-8 pound for a pci wireless card for pc off of ebay
Well then is there a way to dump the memory and reformat it so the device can be used? I’ve already cut the small plastic casing off and reinforced the base with 14g copper wire. I made an adapter to connect to the 10 foot antenna on top of my M997 ambulance. My laptop wifi is picking up a weak signal because of the proximity to the antenna but I’d get better results with a hardwire connection.
@Nelson
hey man I got a question for ya idk if you’ll ever see this message again but thought I’d give it a shot. Thank you.
To reiterate an earlier answer, no, the Xbox 360 Plug N’ Play charging kit will not transmit the analog signals needed for the pc to recognize button inputs. There are no drivers for Windows that supports this. Your only options are to use a standard wired 360 controller (drivers are needed and can be found with a simple search on google) or a wireless to usb adaptor specifically made for the 360 wireless controllers. Hope this helps!
well the drivers that are lacking… would it be possible to find them on the internet?
What if you use it on a XBOX 360 emulator?
Will that work?
Hey CommunicationsTechSupport says:
Way to not read a thread before you comment… Wireless adapterhas nothing to do with the controller.
You sir, are a retard.
is there anyway to download the drivers for the wireless router on to a PC, or not?????????
So I tried using it for my computor without researching if it work. Now my adapter won’t work with my Xbox anymore. Am I going to need a we one? Or is it another problem?
does anyone know where i can get the adapter cord so
i can plug my turtle beach headset into my cumputer
ive looked everywhere
what if the wirelesss adapter was a third party accesory? will it work? i bought a cheap one for the xbox 360 and it worked but its not officially an xbox 360 adapter…its a madcatz or something like that
