Google's New Internet Network

| Commentary | While rumors have apparently persisted for some time, speculation about Google's plans to build an alternative Internet continues to spread. According to Search Engine Journal, Google has been assembling the pieces of just such a global data network, including DWDM fiber optic technology and telecom floor space. It seems unlikely this network will lead to "DotCom v2.0" or another "Internet gold rush" as some have said. However, it would undoubtedly be Google's most ambitious networking project to date.
