Linksys WRT54G features include:
  • 54 Mbps 802.11g (sometimes called Wireless-G) Wi-Fi performance
  • integrated Ethernet network switch with four ports for local network connections and one port for Internet or other external network access
  • two external wireless antennas (detachable in some revisions of the product)
  • support for standard network firewall technologies
  • support for standard Wi-Fi security (authentication and encryption) options including WPA and WPA2 (firwmare updates required on some older models)
  • LED lights for status indicators including power and link activity
Open source firmware packages for the WRT54G such as DD-WRT also exist, providing overclocking capability and other enhancements.
