The DI-624 achieves its 108 Mbps rating in part through the Atheros network interface chipset hardware contained inside. Atheros technology utilizes "channel bonding" that increases bandwidth by utilizing a wider signal that that normally used with a single WiFi channel.
Additionally, D-Link suppports various hardware compression technologies inside the DI-624 to further increase performance including Packet Bursting and Fast Frame support.
The DI-624 contains four Ethernet ports for connecting wired devices. The built-in omni-directional antenna is removable, a plus for those needing to adjust their range profile with an aftermarket antenna.
