Limewire is a popular P2P network that includes a standard client software application. The standard Limewire Basic client allows music and other file sharing (uploading) to be disabled while still permitting downloads. This can conserve network bandwidth and help prevent accidental sharing of copyrighted material. Follow these steps to disable music and other file sharing in Limewire:

Here's How:
- From the Tools menu, choose "Options… ." A new Options window appears.
- In the Options window, choose "Uploads" from the list on the left-hand side of this window.
- If the "Max Upload Slots" and "Upload Bandwidth" options appear on this screen, set both fields to the number zero (0).
- If a "Basic" item appears underneath the Sharing item in this list, choose Basic. Ensure on this screen that the "Allow Partial Sharing" option is unchecked.
- If a "Slots" item appears underneath the Sharing item in this list, choose Slots. Ensure on this screen that the "Uploads Per Person" and "Max Upload Slots" fields are set to the number zero (0).
- Next, choose "Sharing" from the list on the left-hand side of the Options window.
- For each folder shown in the "Shared Directories" list, click once to select it, then click the Remove button.
- When no more Shared Directories are shown in the Options window, click Apply or OK to save these new settings.
- Finally, exit the Limewire Basic client to ensure any uploads currently in progress are terminated. If prompted, choose the "abort file transfers" option and click OK.
