Z-Wave Shade And Drape Control

Window covering controllers that interoperate with Z-Wave systems

From

One strength of Z-Wave technology because of  product interoperability is the wide range of applications for which it can be used. Several manufacturers have adapted the wireless home automation technology to develop new Z-Wave products for control of window covers.

Setting The Mood With Scene Programming

Although many conventional window drape and shade controllers only function completely open or completely closed, home automation allows for partial positions to accommodate scene programming. Scene programming allows a single command to control multiple devices, i.e. pushing one button dims the lights, lowers the projection screen, and closes the blinds. Controlling window coverings necessitated the need to open window coverings at different positions, i.e. 25% open, 50% open, and so on.

Choosing The Right Window Controller

Some window-covering motors are AC powered and some are DC powered. When choosing a motor control device, ensure you select the right type of device, AC or DC, for your system. Secondly, because most Z-Wave devices are available in both US and European power standards, ensure if purchasing an AC device that you correctly choose the right voltage, 115 VAC (U.S.) or 230 VAC (European).
