Using the Network Connection Wizard - Finishing Up
Clicking Next after bypassing the Internet Mail settings leads to the final wizard page shown below.
Internet Connection Wizard - Account Logon Information (Windows 2000)

Up until this point, no phone numbers are actually dialed. By default, however, the checkbox on this page is checked, and Windows will attempt to dial this new connection as soon as the Finish button is pressed. Either uncheck the box or verify that the modem is connected and the phone line not in use before clicking Finish.

When finished, a new icon with the name chosen earlier appears in the Network and Dial-Up Connections window. The connection has now been created and is ready for use.

Right-clicking on this icon and selecting Properties allows one to browse the settings in effect for this connection. Additional connection parameters can be changed through this dialog, as described in the next installment of this tutorial.
