How Business Networks Get Hacked

Recent high profile incidents involving Facebook, Twitter and the New York Times illustrate two ways Internet hackers can penetrate a business computer network. As confirmed by company representatives, Facebook was the victim of a Java watering hole exploit that triggered download of malware to company computers when employees clicked through on specially hacked Web pages. In unrelated attacks, Chinese hackers are suspected in hacking of the New York Times by forcing malware onto company computers indirectly, by first breaking into other networks and then installing malware which helped steal passwords and other sensitive information. Business networks are attacked by other methods, too, such as denial of service.
