What could your bike do if it had integrated Wi-Fi wireless networking support? Several research teams have been busy working on some ideas. Last year, for example, a group based in Germany unveiled an automatic wireless bike braking system. The usefulness of that concept was debatable, as having a bike suddenly start braking without its rider's involvement can be extremely dangerous. A company in the UK is currently preparing to demo at CES 2013 a more promising idea: the world's first automatic gear-changing bicycle. Bicycles equipped with this technology could utilize sensors to intelligently change gearing according to road conditions, or perhaps based on a rider's programmed preferences. Do you have an even better idea?
