802.11ac is the next generation of Wi-Fi technology, designed to make wireless networks run faster than those using older forms of Wi-Fi, including 802.11n (Wireless N). Starting with Buffalo and D-Link, networking companies have been gradually rolling out their first 802.11ac broadband routers since May of this year. Linksys announced their first 802.11ac router some months back too, but until Friday you couldn't actually buy it through retail outlets. Finally, their model, improbably named the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router AC 1750 HD Video Pro but also called the Linksys EA6500 (yes, its the same product), has become generally available.
