Olympic organizers drew criticism recently for announcing a ban on personal wireless access points at the 2012 London Games. The stated purpose was to limit signal overcrowding in crowded venues and help ensure quality of service from the Games' official wireless providers. More cynical folks think the real purpose was to force people to sign up for (paid, and not cheap) subscriptions with the official providers. Regardless of the motivation behind the policy, many of us assumed the Olympics wouldn't seriously try to enforce it. Wrong! News outlets are now reporting that Olympic Wi-Fi police are on patrol for rogue hotspots. Do you know anyone who got caught by the Wi-Fi police?
