Not as competing athletes, of course, but employees of wireless and network communication companies will be busy the next two weeks making final preparations for the 2012 London Olympics. The large number of attendees actively using smartphones and other devices to access high-quality video at event sites will place a tremendous load on the network infrastructure. But it's the concentration of so many people in a relatively small geographic area that really increases the degree of difficulty. Network delays and even total network failures are very possible during peak times as the available access points get increasingly crowded with traffic.
