The second annual World IPv6 Day was held on 6 June 2012. Compared to last year, the use of IPv6 has expanded on the Internet, but not quickly enough for the Internet Society, who organized this year's event in an attempt to increase awareness and accelerate adoption of this new version of IP. Despite predictions that IPv6 would replace IPv4 by now, or some years ago, IPv6 continues to carry a miniscule amount of the world's network traffic. However, some statistics indicate it has grown by a factor of 10x since last year, suggesting that it may actually take over the Net soon. That's why the IPv6 launch is called a mixed success.
