AirDrop is a new feature of Apple Mac OS X 10.7 codenamed Lion. AirDrop allows wireless file transfer between computers on local networks. While similar technologies already exist, AirDrop is Apple's attempt to make local file sharing as simple as possible. Any computers running AirDrop can discover each other over Wi-Fi and automatically set up connections for transmitting and receiving files through the Lion's Finder utility without requiring the user to configure any networking options. (The user can of course deny unwanted file transfers as needed.) Apple is planning to release Mac OS X Lion in July.
