Category 7 (CAT7) is a next-generation standard cabling technology primarily designed for Ethernet networks. Category 7 technology improves both internal signaling and exterior shielding compared to older CAT5 / CAT5e and CAT6 cables. CAT7 supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet network connections, and CAT7 cables are also compatible with standard Ethernet adapters.
While approved by the International Standards Organization (ISO), CAT7 cables are not actually available for retail purchase yet. Look for them only when 10 Gigabit Ethernet gains more mainstream popularity. In other words, it will be awhile.
