mIQ - Free Network Storage for Mobile Phones

[via InformationWeek] - mIQ is a new data synchronization service for cellular devices. It is being launched this month by Best Buy in conjunction with technology partner Dashwire, Inc. Similar to Microsoft's My Phone and Apple's MobileMe services, mIQ is designed to automate the backup and simplify the sharing of data from cell phones to other personal devices and the Web. Unlike these other services, mIQ is cross-platform, currently claiming support for more than 100 phone models. Another key difference: price. Best Buy is currently offering mIQ for free via its online account sign up page.

As with any online data service that stores your personal information, carefully consider the privacy ramifications of sharing your phone data with online providers. Although an mIQ sign up page is available, the setup process isn't fully automated; you'll need to wait until Best Buy contacts you before you can use this service.
