How to Add A Wireless Laptop to a Wired Home Network

Monday December 1, 2008
A member of our message board recently bought a new Wi-Fi laptop but wasn't sure about the best way to integrate it with their existing home network that uses a wired router. Several different approaches can work:
    1. connect the laptop to the wired router with an Ethernet cable
    2. replace the wired router with a wireless router
    3. add a wireless router to the home network (and keep the wired one)
    4. add a wireless access point to the home network
    5. (not recommended) set up a PC on the home network to be a wireless bridge for the laptop
Any others?
