Is 5 GHz Hardware Better Than 2.4 GHz?

Mainstream equipment used in routers and other wireless networking equipment generally sends its signals in either a 2.4 GHz or a 5 GHz radio frequency range. You've probably seen these numbers advertised prominently on the packaging of network products and may have wondered about their meaning. Just because it carries a bigger number, 5 GHz hardware is not necessarily better than 2.4 GHz hardware. Or is it? More - Is 5 GHz Hardware Better Than 2.4 GHz?
