Cisco Visual Networking Index - Internet Traffic To Keep Multiplying

[via Gigaom] According to Cisco Systems, "global IP traffic will increase by a factor of six from 2007 to 2012." Such a prediction may be hard to believe if you are only counting people and Web pages. When you consider the increasing popularity of online video and the huge amount of network bandwidth it consumes, however, this prediction starts to make a lot more sense. "Video on demand (VoD), IP television (IPTV), and Internet TV will account for nearly 90 percent of all consumer IP traffic in 2012," Cisco thinks.
