| Commentary | Did you know that your home network may be part of a large proprietary database of residential WiFi locations in the U.S. and Canada? As discussed on Slashdot and other forums, a company called Skyhook Wireless has been busy building this database by scanning neighborhoods for signals from wireless routers and access points.
Other than revealing your base station's MAC address and perhaps your AOL screen name, it seems not much else in the way of personal data is captured there. Nevertheless, this is another good reminder that your wireless network signals may be leaking into public spaces.
