eDonkey P2P File Sharing Client Alternatives

Saturday September 23, 2006
| Commentary | Earlier this month, owners of the eDonkey P2P file sharing software shut down their site. The former home page for downloading eDonkey now only contains a legal warning and a script that displays your Internet IP address, and is therefore not recommended.

Although the eDonkey client itself is shut down, the eDonkey P2P network (ED2K) itself is not. Folks can continue use the eMule P2P client to access the ED2K network. Installing an old / archived version of eDonkey is also a possiblity although not guaranteed to work on ED2K over the long term.
