| Poll | A high-speed Internet service provider may assist with in-house equipment setup, troubleshooting of initial technical problems, and billing arrangements. The difference between a satisfactory process and a unsatisfactory one involves potentially many hours of lost time and frustration.

Because providers have offered such services to many consumers for years, one would expect fairly smooth sailing here. But the results of our poll may suggest otherwise. You can share your experience by voting in our poll below:

I am a High Speed Internet customer service agent and I understand how frustrating customers may feel when they try to configure their modem/router to the service they have purchased. I have only one suggestion-take you time. This is the one time you need to follow the directions provided in the order they are presented. Many of the calls I receive could have been avoided if the customer took their time. If you are not technically inclined, don’ t try to install the service alone. Call the help desk and in less than 30 minutes we can have your modem configured, your wireless network set-up, and you can be in “surf” heaven on the Internet.
