Can Wired and Wireless Computers Be Networked?

| FAQ | Most wired network connections found in homes and small businesses use Ethernet, while Wi-Fi is the technology of choice for many wireless connections. It's true that Ethernet and Wi-Fi network adapters cannot directly connect to each other. However, devices using either of these technologies be networked together indirectly using wireless access points or certain kinds of broadband routers.

While routers and access points enable these so-called "hybrid" networks, they generally only support Wi-Fi, not other types of wireless like Bluetooth or infrared.
