Verizon Wireless Hangs Up City WiFi Hotspots

| Commentary | As reported in many news outlets, Verizon Wireless announced this week it plans to discontinue the free Wi-Fi Internet service currently offered in New York City. Instead, Verizon will invest in a cellular Internet service called EV-DO and charge paid subscriptions. Is Verizon's move an indication of the demise of free city Wi-Fi services in general? Some folks think so.
