| Commentary | This past Saturday, hundreds of volunteers and spectators congregated at a gymnasium in San Francisco, CA. Their goal? To build one of the 500 fastest supercomputers in the world, using 669 ordinary personal computers running customized Linux and a traditional Ethernet LAN. This "mob" of people assembled the network in a "flash," but things didn't work exactly as planned. Read more
