What is InfiniBand?

| Definition | You've probably seen several news items lately about "bargain supercomputers" being assembled quickly out of standard computer parts. The network technology behind all of these low-cost supercomputers is InfiniBand. With InfiniBand you can build an incredibly fast network affordably. But if InfiniBand is so great, why don't all networks use it?
